The end of a season is, at first, a constriction. We feel tightening days wherein warmth
presses spine and chest in unison to help us remember how we can be held. Then, there is the moment of encounter that stretches fingers toward ember-bright leaves just peppering where we walk, where we wander. Further yet, the eye longs for a sea, a shoreline teasing colder sand, a space where shorewood becomes fire out of necessity and no longer burns to signify carefree dusks.
This issue, the eighteenth iteration of promises and feeling in aggregate, is much like an announcement that all a summer’s adventure convenes—not quickly, but in agreement that Fall is welcome in a word shaped like now. This is an issue poised to pull you into that space where memory and now and next blend together. We'll see you there!
